Wellness tips to breeze through Spring

The outside is looking less bleak and Victorian, days are longer, and morning walks are in full swing. It’s finally time to shed the winter coat, take the gloves off and start anew.

I am going to be sharing my favourite ways to prepare for the new season within my daily life because a spring glow up doesn’t require taking a week off work, merely incepting some gorgeous, self-indulgent activities into your routine!

Mornings throughout winter can be stressful and taxing on our physical and mental health, so, to limit stress, I like to take my spring mornings a lot slower and pack in lots of self-care. Waking up without the need for the radiator blaring is a luxury of which we cannot take for granted and must be greatly appreciated, especially in this English climate that I live in!

A great wake-up call starts eight to ten hours before, as cliché as it sounds, our sleep is the most crucial step to an internal glow-up. Pamper your sleep space with luxury and care; make your bed your sanctuary. It is where you take the time to revitalise and regenerate. Silk pillowcases and bedding ensure the protection of your well-manicured skin and hair throughout the inevitable turbulence of your sleep. Why spend all that money and time on your skincare to let it be consumed by your polyester pillowcase?

In order to allow some time for serendipity and peace in the morning, I attempt to ditch the ‘short for time’ excuse by waking up fifteen minutes earlier, believe me it feels much easier when the sun rises before 6am rather than halfway through the business day. Then, I follow the morning mantra of sunlight, stretching and SPF.

Performing the art of movement at the beginning of your day can help to enhance mental clarity and productivity and kickstart your metabolism which leads to increased calorie burning throughout your day. These are then working away whilst you type on your keyboard and you can forget all about them. No more driving home contemplating whether you must go to the gym tonight or you can call it another “rest night”. Not to mention the positive effects that exercise and sweating hold for glowing skin after a morning workout.

Finally, post my refreshing shower, I could never consider a morning well-done without the application of suncream. Come rain or shine, you won’t catch me without the light cast of SPF grazing the bridge of my nose.
